Columbia County

Columbia County was named in honor of Christopher Columbus and was founded in 1832. Interestingly, the original county seat was at the home of John W. Roberts in the small village of Alligator (which later became Lake City). Shown above is a postcard from the early 1900's which displays the cupola and dome -which are no longer there - that was part of Frank P. Milburn's design.
